With over 3,800 network assets installed and under development in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile, QMC offers complete solutions for coverage and capacity across the wireless landscape. We own and operate more than 175 million square feet of indoor Distributed Antenna System (DAS) coverage. In addition to DAS, we develop, own, operate, and lease towers, rooftops, and Street Level Solutions (SLS) for mobile network operations.

QMC Telecom Brazil obtains a new credit line of R$1.25 billion, with a banking syndicate led by BNP Paribas and with the participation of Bradesco BBI, Itaú BBA and MUFG. QMC Telecom International reaches the milestone of 3,800 assets in Latin America.

QMC Telecom International implements its first 5G projects in Brazil and reaches the milestone of 200 installed DAS, including the largest C-DAS in Latin America, with 1,200 antennas.

QMC Telecom Brazil landed another R$500M credit line with Banco Itaú BBA and started a $45M partnership with IDB to support investments in other Latin American countries. Start of operations in Chile.

During this year, we faced the global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with great determination, keeping health as a priority without compromising our results. We reached the milestone of more than 2,500 installed assets, bringing indoor coverage to several hospitals. We expanded our operation in Latin America, reaching Peru.

QMC Telecom International leads one of the first indoor 5G tests in Brazil. First SLS (Street Level Solutions) projects implemented in Colombia and Brazil. QMC Brazil expands its credit line to R$400 million with support from ING and Itaú.

QMC Telecom International has a record number of indoor DAS installed in a period of one year, reaching 30 projects in Brazil. First indoor DAS project is implemented in Colombia. In Mexico, QMC acquires UNW's DAS portfolio, becoming one of the largest neutral host DAS operators in the country.

QMC Telecom Brasil obtains a R$150 million credit line from Banco ING in Brazil, with the aim of solidifying the company's financial position and adding investment capacity.

QMC Telecom International receives its third round of investments of US$75M, enabling the start of DAS operations in Mexico.

QMC Telecom International deploys a record 449 greenfield towers within a year. First indoor DAS (Distributed Antenna System) infrastructure implemented in Brazil.

QMC Telecom International receives its second round of investments of US$100M, led by Accel Partners & Quadrant Capital Advisors, the investment arm of Grupo Santo Domingo, which enabled the company's new expansion to Colombia.

QMC Telecom International signs the first MLAs (Master Lease Agreements) with the largest Brazilian operators, solidifying its presence in the country. The first special tower was built in Brazil, in a difficult location and using a camouflaged structure.

QMC Telecom International is founded in Brazil and Mexico and receives its first round of investment of US$72M, led by Housatonic Partners.

Rafael A. Somoza

CEO and Co-Founder

Rafael Somoza is CEO and Co-Founder of QMC Telecom. Previously he was CEO and Co-Founder of VIU Media, Puerto Rico's largest private outdoor advertising company, until the company's sale in 2006 to Lamar Advertising. He previously worked at Chase Manhattan Bank and CS First Boston. Rafael graduated magna cum laude in Economics and Political Science from Yale College and has an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jose R. Stella

Board member and Co-Founder

Jose Stella is a Board Member and Co-Founder of QMC Telecom. Previously he was President and Co-Founder of VIU Media, Puerto Rico's largest private outdoor advertising company, until the sale of the company in 2006 to Lamar Advertising. He previously worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, Banco Popular and UBS in Zurich. Jose graduated cum laude from Babson College with a focus on Finance, Investments and Economics and has an MBA from the University of Michigan.

André Machado

Chief Operating Officer

André Machado is currently the COO of QMC Telecom. Prior to this role, André was Country President at QMC Brasil for over seven years and LATAM Regional Head for three years. Previously, he was Vice President and a member of the Management Team at Huawei and Ericsson Brasil. He has over twenty-five years of experience in the Telecom sector in Brazil and Latin America, holding senior management positions at major multinational companies in the industry. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from Mackenzie University and has completed additional business management courses at the London Business School, the Indian School of Business, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Ricardo Zubieta

Chief Financial Officer

Ricardo Zubieta is QMC Telecom International’s Chief Financial Officer. Previously, he spent 20 years in investment banking, advising a broad range of technology, media and telecommunications clients on mergers and acquisitions, financing and stock offerings. Most recently, he was Managing Director at Barclay's Global Technology, Media and Telecom Group, where he was Head of Telecom M&A. Ricardo began his career at Lehman Brother's Telecom and Media Group. He graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with an engineering degree and has an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.

Aurelio J. Emanuelli

General Counsel

Aurelio Emanuelli is the General Counsel of QMC Telecom International Holdings, LLC. Prior to QMC, Bobby was a partner for more than twenty years in several top law firms in Puerto Rico, focusing on financial transactions, regulatory and securities affairs, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and other general corporate issues. Bobby holds a Bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in History from Yale College and Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.

Chief Information Officer

José Javier Martinez is Chief Information Officer at QMC Telecom. Previously, José Javier served as CIO & CTO for Globenet, a submarine cable company. He has over 18 years of experience in IT and process-related positions in the Americas and Europe. Eduardo Miki Watanabe

Global Director of Property Management and Business Transformation

Miki began his journey at QMC Telecom in 2017 as Chief of Staff. In 2021, he took on the role of Growth Director and currently holds the position of Global Director of Property Management and Business Transformation. In this role, he leads the Asset Management and Process Improvement teams, as well as leads various strategic, cross-functional projects. Miki started his career in consulting, where he gained extensive experience in various cases of Business Transformation and Change Enablement across different industries. Miki holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from USP.

Augusto Pessoa

Global Technical Director

Augusto has 35+ years of experience in Telecom. Currently he is the Global Technical Director at QMC Telecom. Prior to that, he worked at Ericsson, LCC Intl., Philips, COMCAST and INPE with the main IP and transportation technologies and with every type of mobile access networks available in the past 25 years. He managed the design and construction of several networks, including 10,000 cellsites and 650 projects of indoor coverage, being responsible for the first virtual evolved packet core (vEPC). Augusto holds a BA in Eletronic Engineering from Universidade Federal da Paraíba.

Carolina Martins

Global HR Director

Carolina Martins is the Global HR Director at QMC Telecom. Before that, she was responsible for Organizational Development at Santander and Braskem and worked as a business consultant at Accenture and ICTS Global. She has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, mainly in Talent Management, Corporate University and Cultural Transformation. Carolina has a degree in Psychology from Universidade Estadual Paulista, and M.B.A in Strategic and Economic Management by FGV, as well as a Continued Education Course in Digital Transformation by IESE.

Murilo Almeida

Country President - Brazil

Murilo Almeida is currently QMC Brazi’s Country President after having occupied the position of Sales & Business Development Director. He has extensive experience in the telecommunications market, having led projects of high strategic relevance in 3 of the 4 largest operators in Brazil - including work on areas such as commercial planning, license valuation, strategic planning, M&A, CAPEX and Turnaround optimization. Prior to QMC, Murilo worked as Principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) with a focus on Telecommunications, as Strategic Planning manager at Telefonica, and as a business analyst at Value Partners. He holds an engineering degree from UNICAMP and an MBA from Wharton School of Business.

Country President - Colombia & Peru

Julio Otálora is Country President of QMC Telecom in Colombia and Peru. Julio has more than 19 years of professional experience working for multinational telecommunications and technology companies in Colombia and the United States. Throughout his professional career, he has led Lucent Technologies, Motorola, Adobe and Apple as Country Manager. Julio holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and an MBA from Thunderbird Graduate School (ASU) in Phoenix, Arizona.

Victor Lozada

Country Manager - Mexico

Victor Lozada is QMC Telecom México’s Country Manager and has over 10 years of experience in the telecommunications sector. Prior to his current role, he was Tower Operations Manager at QMC Mexico. He has worked for companies like Centennial Towers and American Tower, where he developed projects in Mexico, Brazil and Latin America. Victor has a degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structures from the Universidad Autónoma de México, and an MBA from the University of the Americas.

Mario Jimenez

Country Manager - Chile

Mario began his journey at QMC Mexico in 2018, developing indoor and outdoor technical and comercial solutions, where he implemented the first centralized iDAS (C-DAS) and the first SLSTM nodes of the company. Previously, he worked at Ericsson, where he spent over 8 years in areas such as cellular network design and optimization, pre-sales, coMercial, and in charge of the architecture and growth of cellular networks in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.
